Hello…

In October 2002 Pete and Sarah Freeman took over the tenancy of Buxhall Farm in Histon, one of the many farms owned by the Cambridgeshire County Council. At first this was a 75 acre farm comprising of arable land which Pete farmed part time alongside his full time job in engineering.

In 2008 Peter took over the tenancy of Mansel Farm, Oakington and became 2nd generation tenants. Farming arable – wheat, barley, beans and oats. The farm is part of various environmental schemes.  With livestock – sheep, mixed ewe breeds with lambs from charollais and Texal rams.

Cattle – suckler herd mainly dairy cross, sired to an Aberdeen Angus bull.  In the past we had hand reared calves, laying chickens for farm gate eggs sales (which sadly we stopped in 2023 after 18 years) and occasionally we have a few pigs.  We are always looking at more animals.

In 2015 we moved from Histon to the Oakington farmhouse.  Buxhall still remains part of our farm and it’s following the successful location for selling Christmas trees in December where we decided to grow some pumpkins for a unique pick your own experience for the Halloween celebrations of October.
